Series C 2021 represents a vivid expression of our unique vilafonté site.
It exhibits a dark red-black coloured centre and brightly ruby-rimmed edge. Opening unhurriedly it reveals a layered aromatic palette with notes of incense and violet blossom that segue to delicious black plum, fresh black currants and Boysenberries. Subtle hints of sandalwood, sappy juniper and blonde tobacco gradually emerge with further time in the glass. The palate is luscious, with silky tannins and linear progression that finish with great presence and length. Generous fruit expression adds dimension to this elegant and impeccably well-balanced wine.
While the 2021 Series C is already complete in its youth, this blend will reward those who exercise patience, as it continues to evolve and develop complexity. Enjoy now or cellar for two decades or more.

"Flirting with triple digits, the 2021 Series C is constructed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc. Still incredibly tight yet exuding that special “it” factor, the red blend is layered with gorgeous dark red and succulent black fruit tones with gobs of attractive oak essences that sway with power and finesse. If you're a cult California Cabernet collector, you'll want to add this to your cellar as fast as possible. Just under 20,000 bottles rested for about two years in French oak barrels, 81% new. Super youthful in appearance, almost purple edged colour. The aroma exudes a sense of quality. The palate follows, with quiet red fruit which is tangy and bright on the palate. As the wine opens the fruit and earthy notes integrate more. The wine is serious, but easy drinking with soft tannins and becomes quite juicy, yet refined. Wonderfully youthful, energetic, with a lingering graphite/lead pencil finish.

The Waterford Antigo takes its name from the colour of the soils in which this specific Cabernet Vineyard is planted, that makes up majority of the blend. Waterford Estate is located on the Helderberg Mountain, renowned for producing the best red wines in South Africa, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. The red clay, rich soils which bring softer and plush elegant fruit to the aromatics. They also create tannins which are richer softer and sweeter to what we are used to on Waterford Estate. The original plan was to release it as a single varietal wine, but its uniqueness necessitated the creation of the blend.
The 2020 vintage is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
Food pairing: A delicious hearty dish pairs perfectly with this wine, the plush red fruits notes will be perfectly complimented with meaty casseroles and a roast leg of lamb.

Dense on opening, this blend offers seductively fragrant layers of blackberry, cassis and baked plum, perfectly offset by a savoury, hoisin sauce note. Opulent floral notes; violet and lilac harmoniously blend to fresh-crushed juniper berry, pencil shavings, nuanced dark chocolate and sweet, warm
nutmeg. The palate reveals a plush, expansive entry, with vivid continuity. Fine-grained tannins throughout embody a cashmere embrace, building on the fine and assertive structure. Sumptuous black berry fruits are expressive and well-defined, underpinned by a mouth-watering core with effortlessly long finish. While alluring in its youth, the 2019 Series C promises a decade or more of cellaring to realise its full potential.
The Blend
Twenty-two months in seventy-four percent new French oak barrique, with the balance in older French oak.
Series C 2019 consists of Cabernet Sauvignon (fifty-six percent), equal parts Merlot and Malbec (twenty percent each) and Cabernet Franc (four percent).
Forty-six barrels were produced.

Vilafonte Series M 2010 displays a deep, dark red to black colour. The nose is vibrant with warm flavours. Primary nuances include inviting blueberries, black cherry preserve and cocoa powder which fills the glass. This spectacular ‘Series M’ has a beautiful brightness to it, showing hints of caramel, fruitcake and spice. The wine is singular in approach, with great concentration and a lovely plush mid-palate. ‘Series M’ 2010 is incredibly smooth and seamless with a long finish.

Yalumba The Cigar 2018 has a full nose with savoury blackcurrant fruit and on the palate there are layers of plum and cherry fruit and a lengthy savoury textured finish. The palate surprises as it is not the brute the nose suggests. It is a medium bodied wine with deep fruit flavours of dark cherries and blackberries. The tannins are silky smooth and act in harmony with the fruit for a lingering finish.
